Minutes from Lorain City Soccer meeting on 5/9/06.
Meeting held @ Longfellow park in the parking lot.
Meeting started @ approximately 7:35pm.

In attendance:
Calvin Jones, Scott & Johnna Wood, John & Nicole Jovanovski, Steve & Angie Heider, Christine Shuster, Janice Jennings, Dave & Denise Kallas, Kirk Seekins

New Officers were nominated and elected:
President – Steve Heider
Vice President – Scott Wood
Secretary – Johnna Wood
Treasurer – John Jovanovski
Registrar – Christine Shuster

Additional help needed:
It was decided that we still need help. We need coaches, coaches, and more coaches starting in Fall 2006 if we want to register more kids and grow our organization. We agreed to spread the word to other parents and if someone is interested in coaching they should call Steve @ 440-785-2127.

We also need someone to commit to being in charge of uniforms for the county teams. Christine will continue to take care of uniforms for peanuts, U6 & U7. We have a possible field manager and equipment manager. Johnna talked to these parents today and will follow up with them this week.
Christine agreed to contact Bob in the Parks Department in regards to mowing. She will try to see if mowing can be coincided with lining the fields. Grass needs to be mowed before fields are lined.

We also need someone to commit to being our treasurer. John has agreed to stay on board as treasurer for this season so the new officers can get things up and running.

John Jovanovski will:
John will continue to attend the county and AASL meetings for the rest of the season. He will also contact Frank (past president) to see if we can get a copy of the constitution and to find out if Lorain City Soccer has a 501C3 status. John will also contact Dave Bickel to determine what the procedure is to add the new officers to the bank account at First Federal. He will report these findings to the new officers. He will also turn over the key to the P.O. Box to Johnna or Steve. It was decided that the amount charged for Soccer for next season will be determined once we have a better idea of what our finances are. John will get a treasurer’s report to Steve in the near future.

Fundraising:
We briefly discussed having a Night at the Races at the end of October, prior to elections, with a spaghetti dinner or steak fry. No further plans can be made until we find out if Lorain City Soccer has non-profit status.

Johnna Wood will:
Get in touch with Christine to determine how to access the messages on the 288-kick line. Once Steve, Christine, and John get her all of the coaches names, phone numbers and e-mail addresses, she will contact them in order to give them registration forms and give deadline dates for registering their teams. These dates will also be discussed with Christine. She will also set up registration dates and times for open registration. These will be held at Longfellow, Lorain Admiral King, and Southview. Contact Slutzkers to have ½ sheet flyers made up to pass out to local schools. Janice will take flyers to St. Peter’s, John will take to Clearview & St. Anthony’s, Angie will check with St. Vincent De Paul, and Steve will contact the athletic director for Lorain City Schools.

Future meetings:
It was determined that future meetings could be held at the Heider’s or Wood’s households. The majority of people in attendance said that having a quick meeting at Longfellow, near the parking lot, on Tuesdays worked for them because they are already there. Future meeting dates will sent out by e-mail. If anyone has any input they should attend the next meeting.
